THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO CLEANING YOUR DISHWASHER

The key to sparkling dishes is a sparkling dishwasher. Check out the ultimate guide on how to clean your dishwasher.

HOW TO DEEP CLEAN YOUR DISHWASHER IN 5 EASY STEPS!

1.

CLEAN THE INSIDE

Once every 3 months, start the clean by running an empty cycle with our Finish Dishwasher Cleaner. This should help tackle limescale build-up in your dishwasher.

2.

EMPTY THE FILTER

Your dishwasher’s filter is designed to catch food particles, so it will need to be emptied to help draining and stop food particles circulating back onto your dishes.

3.

UNCLOG THE DRAIN

The drain is behind the filter and can accumulate food, grease, and grime. Clean and remove these leftovers, being careful to disconnect your machine first.

4.

CLEAN THE SPRAY ARMS

Check that the dishwasher spray arms are rotating freely and are not clogged with debris, to ensure they are operating at full power.

5.

CHECK FOR LEAKS

Look around your dishwasher for evidence of leaks or pooling water. Some typical culprits of dishwasher leaking are a broken inlet valve, defective pumps or loose seals. For any of these, consult a technician.

Our dishwasher cleaning products are designed to maximise the effectiveness of this cleaning rota.

FAQs

HOW DO I CLEAN A DISHWASHER FILTER?

  • Empty your dishwasher completely and remove the bottom rack from the machine.
  • Locate the filter (it should look like a short cylindrical tube), twist to unlock it, and then gently remove it from the machine. It may have two parts: the tube and a flat filter beneath it. This will also have to be removed.
  • Run your filter under running water to clean it, removing any visible debris. You may need to use dish soap and an old, soft sponge to remove any stubborn limescale and food. Do this gently, though – you don’t want to break the filter mesh.
  • Replace the filter back into the machine and lock it back into place.
